Why do dental implant costs vary?

Dental implant fees can vary considerably, which can make comparing treatment difficult. The important question is not simply how much an implant costs, but what is included in that treatment.

When comparing treatment plans, it is worth considering the experience of the clinician carrying out the treatment, the assessment and planning involved, the implant system and restoration being used, whether additional procedures are included and the arrangements for ongoing care and maintenance.

I began placing dental implants in 1988 and have now placed more than 7,000 dental implants. My fees reflect the time devoted to assessment and treatment planning, the complexity of the treatment required and the standard of care I believe is necessary to provide a predictable and maintainable result.

Is the cheapest dental implant treatment the best value?

Price is understandably an important consideration when choosing dental implant treatment. However, two treatment plans with different prices may not necessarily be offering the same treatment.

One quote may include the implant, abutment, final restoration, imaging and associated treatment, while another may price some of these separately. More complex treatment can also involve very different levels of planning and clinical time.

When comparing dental implant costs, I would encourage you to compare the complete treatment being proposed rather than the headline price alone.

Your individual treatment plan

Every patient is different. Some people require a relatively straightforward single implant, while others may need additional procedures or more extensive reconstruction.

Following your consultation and assessment, I will explain the options available and provide a personalised treatment plan with the costs clearly set out before you decide whether you would like to proceed.
